because meiosis is basically mitosis but it does the step twice with only copping once. mitosis- coppy DNA and let the cell grow then go into prophase then metaphase then anaphase and finally telophase. meiosis- copy DNA and let the cell grow then go into prophase1 then metaphase1 then anaphase1 then telophase1 then prophase2 then metaphase2 then anaphase2 then telophase2
