POLL: How do you securley mount a 48" LCD tv over a fireplace?

The hearth is about 5 feet wide, the studfinder isn't reading properly throught the plaster and I want to make sure it's secure for obviousl reasons. I see tons of them this way on TV, i know it can be done, but I can't find the stupid studs.
