What is your valuation of human life?

Religion often talks about human life as valuable and a gift from God, but more and more human life seems to be a commodity to be spent. Companies will harm anybody to achieve their goals, fanatics urge their people to die for causes, and many kill without remorse. Is human life really just as valuable as the bullet required to end it, as it seems anymore, or am I just jaded? What is your opinion about the value (intrinsic, not really the monetary value) of human life?
